The US dollar index remained stable around 97.70, and was still at its low level after four consecutive days of declines last week. Due to the sluggish trading during the Labor Day holiday in the United States, short-term volatility is limited.
The market expects the Fed to cut interest rates by 25 basis points at its September meeting. San Francisco Fed Chairman Daly said officials were ready to take action and stressed that inflationary pressures brought by tariffs were only temporary.
Daly said: "We are ready to cut interest rates soon to deal with potential risks in the economy and job market."
In July, the US PCE price index increased by 2.6% year-on-year, and the core PCE rose by 2.9% year-on-year, both in line with market expectations. Although inflation is still above the Fed's target, the market has not lowered its bet on interest rate cuts as a result.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld the previous ruling, finding that the Trump administration unilaterally imposed tariffs on most countries were illegal. However, U.S. Trade Representative Greer said in an interview that the government may continue to negotiate with major partners in search of alternatives.
Institutional analysts pointed out: "Uncertainty in tariff policies is still an important variable affecting the US dollar and the global market."
From the daily chart, the US dollar index stabilized around 97.70 after falling for four consecutive days, and the short-term moving average showed signs of flattening, indicating that the market entered a consolidation stage. The key support below is 97.50. If it falls below, it may open up space to further fall to the 97.00 mark;
The upper resistance level is 98.20, and it is expected to return to the 98.50-98.80 range after breaking through. In terms of overall situation, the US dollar index is still weak and fluctuating, waiting for the Federal Reserve policy signal to be used as a guide to the next direction.
